Reporting Automation for a Consulting Firm
A management consultancy reduces the weekly management report from 6 hours to 30 minutes — an AI agent gathers, analyses, and writes the report while a consultant only proofreads.
Starting point
A mid-sized management consultancy (12 consultants) produced a weekly management report covering 5 ongoing projects. Every Friday afternoon, a senior consultant spent 5–6 hours pulling together data from Jira, CRM, Excel spreadsheets, and emails, interpreting it, and writing it into a consistent document.
The result: the report was rarely ready before 6 pm, the consultant was exhausted, and the quality of insight varied significantly depending on workload.
Solution
Opteria built a two-stage reporting agent:
Data collector
- Connects automatically to Jira, HubSpot, and Google Sheets
- Pulls weekly KPIs (task status, project progress, budget burn, new leads)
- Normalises different data formats into a unified schema
Report generator
- Analyses deltas from the previous week and identifies anomalies
- Writes a structured management report (summary, status per project, risks, next steps)
- Formats output in the company’s own Word template
- Sends draft to the responsible consultant for a 30-minute proofread and sign-off
Technology
- Claude 3.5 Sonnet (analysis, text generation)
- n8n (data collection, scheduling)
- Jira API, HubSpot API, Google Sheets API
- python-docx (Word template population)
